Time of Writing: 10:51 PM.
Weather: Deceptive. It appeared colder when I set out than it was when I returned. It got hotter, and maybe I should not have worn a sweater on my walk.
Mental and Physical Health State: I was as tired as a corpse this morning but otherwise I'm pretty good. Gotta drink more water though.
Day Overview: I woke up and dragged myself out of bed. I can't remember if today was when I had the muffin for breakfast or if that was yesterday. I've done less today than basically any other day. Just sat around doing internet stuff and wasting away. I did go for a walk, but I got absolutely nothing else done at all. It was a pretty short walk, because it was set to a pretty short podcast and also the shoes that I wore didn't really fit my feet that well.
On My Mind: Cotard's Delusion is the belief that oneself is a corpse, and thus either does not exist or is immortal due to their undead state, and likely perceives that the apocalypse is coming as well. Sometimes individuals afflicted believe that others are corpses as well. It was a very morbid train of thought this morning that lead me to google this, I'll say.
Works Consumed:
- The Age of Plastic by Buggles: This is the Video Killed the Radio Star album. It's pretty alright. Got some other cool tunes on it, like Elstree. Somewhat sensual at times, very weird in that respect. I can see an argument that this is a novelty album being made, and I can see myself entertaining that argument longer than most. This stuff is fun, it's got some soul. 7/10.
- Around The World With The Prophets by The (Hypothetical) Prophets: This one lost me midway through, it does a lot of coldwave stuff that feels almost like parody. I dunno maybe I've been listening to too much like this lately just as loose singles on youtube and stuff but this didn't land all too well. It's good background music but it serves as a sort of rhythmic device in that capacity, not an artwork to be evaluated on meaning, it's like it's good sounding but beyond the ear candy what is there, I dunno. 6/10.
- Mood Swing by The Nails: Apart from a few of the lyrics in this making me feel kinda icky I don't remember much about this album that I enjoyed. It was sounds for a time and then it wasn't. 6/10.
- FFS by FFS: A combination of Franz Ferdinand and Sparks. It works surprisingly well. The absolute joy that is realized in these tracks is off the charts. Each and every one sounds like they're giving their all. It sounds like a musical match made in heaven. Franz Ferdinand gives a really good sonic body to the thinner more ethereal aspects of Sparks' sound. Incredibly memorable stuff. An absolute blast, end to end. 9/10.
- Let Yourself Be Seen by Doomsquad: This one was also really great, but for entirely different reasons. This release really feels self contained, it lives within its own sphere, there isn't much musically to compare this one to. It's incredibly cerebral, layering some abstract spoken word bits over really well mixed electronics and stuff. I really enjoyed this one. 9/10.
- Logic Songs by Little Kid: A very good Elliott Smith impression. Feels just as distinctly miserable and relatable. Goes a little overboard with this sort of concept of a train appearing at the beginning and end of the album. The lo-fineness of this is Microphones-crispy, I really enjoyed that aspect. Some of the lyricalwork was weak in a few places, but the vocals themselves were fine intonation and expression wise. Very classically whiny. 8/10 overall.
Works In Progress:
- Kaguya Sama Love Is War Season Two animated by A-1 Pictures: Episode Six.
Works Produced: A few hundred more words of world building stuff. This is writing comfort food.
Other Thoughts: Thank you for reading my blog. Living through history is a little excruciating at times. Remember to take breaks every now and then to have a glass of water.
