Date: January 1st, 2020

Time of Writing: 5:30 PM

Weather: Chilly with clear skies.

Mood: Hopeful.

Day Overview: Rang in the new year by getting a head start on some lofty New Year's Resolutions (my book target for 2020 on Goodreads is absurd) and watching HBomberguy videos. One of my goals for this year is to put an end to my habit of watching more media analysis content than media itself, so getting into good old Harrington Bombman right now is some messed up timing. Slept for a few hours and then it was noon. Put the finishing touches on the soft launch of the website and headed out to lunch with a friend from High School. We got some lunch and walked around the city for a while, catching up on where our lives had gone. It was good to see her, and she said she was thinking of maybe transferring to my university next year. What is this, a crossover episode?

On My Mind: I've been thinking a lot about what we should call this decade. We can't just call them the Twenties, that's taken already by the 1920s. So I formally propose, on this cold first of January, that we christen this new decade the Double Twenties. In my opinion, this is the perfect name for this new decade. Not only does it represent the full name of the decade (twenty twenty, which - yeah, you get it), it also represents how it's really impossible to form a zeitgeist of the world anymore due to all the weird and wacky stuff happening every day and the sheer number of people that stuff happens to!
I also saw someone propose we call this decade the Downward Twenties. Gulp.

Other Thoughts: Launching a blog in 2020 is maybe the least futuristic thing I could have done to start the year. I'm still getting a feel for this, it's been almost a decade since I last blogged so I'm a little rusty, but I hope you stay with me as I make this blog and the website it is housed on the best that they can be.
